Using Oil Analysis to Determine the Remaining Useful Life of your Lubricants

The Remaining Useful Life Evaluation Routine (RULER®) test can determine the remaining useful life of used oil by comparing its anti-oxidative concentration (oxidation inhibitors) with those of new oil. This test measures the oxidative resistance levels of mineral and synthetic hydrocarbon oils, ester-based and biodegradable oils.

How can Oil Analysis Prevent Corrosion?

Sediments are insoluble residues (impurities such as dust, rust chips and free water) present in petroleum products. These impurities can cause corrosion, leading to malfunction and ultimately total destruction of the equipment: Sediments can block the controls of hydraulic circuits. In refrigeration compressors, sediments either originate from deteriorated gas circulation systems or from poorly filtered air compressors.
