World Metrology Day is a yearly observance that commemorates the signing of the Metre Convention on May 20, 1875, by representatives from seventeen countries. This convention established the foundation for international cooperation in the field of measurement and its various practical applications in industry, commerce, and society. The primary objective of the Metre Convention, which is to ensure consistent and standardized measurements worldwide, remains just as significant today as it was back in 1875.
