Top 10 Lift Equipment Services from IIA

(when you need a higher level of service)

Back in the 1880s, inspectors with one of our earliest legacy companies spent their days testing steam boilers on trains and industrial steam engines to ensure their safety and performance. Nearly 150 years later, we continue to provide services that make our world safer.

Today, Industrial Inspection & Analysis (IIA) is one of North America’s most trusted providers of Lift Services. Our testing helps ensure the safety of cranes, airline ground support equipment (GSE), bucket and fire trucks, digger derrick equipment, and other aerial and lift devices and components. We can even provide after-hours testing to minimize disruptions to your operations.

The NDT Experts
Our expertise in non-destructive testing (NDT) allows us to accurately detect surface and subsurface defects — without damaging the equipment being tested. There is no single testing method comprehensive enough to facilitate a decision about the overall structural integrity of equipment. That’s why we offer a variety of complementary NDT, including dielectric, acoustic emission, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, visual and operational inspections, and more.

Along with our NDT expertise, our inspectors are well versed in all regulatory requirements affecting lift equipment. As a full-service provider, our team also includes professional engineers who specialize in lift equipment design, repair, lift planning, and accident investigation.

Top 10 Lift Services
Our expert inspections help keep personnel safe and lift devices in compliance with applicable standards in the U.S. and Canada. Following are 10 lift services that set IIA apart:

  1. AERIAL DEVICE, BUCKET TRUCK & DIGGER DERRICK INSPECTIONS: For decades, IIA has been a leading provider of critical testing that helps protect electric line crews, firefighters and other workers. Our highly skilled and certified technicians conduct comprehensive testing to ensure the safety of bucket trucks and other aerial devices, digger derrick equipment, and all related components. Our inspection services are performed on site and in accordance with applicable OSHA and ANSI standards, and CSA standards in Canada.
  2. COMPLETE CRANE SERVICES: IIA is the industry leader when it comes to the testing, training, maintenance, and repair of all crane systems, including conventional, overhead, mobile, maritime, tower and more. Along with comprehensive OSHA/ANSI/ASME/CSA inspections and certifications, we provide total support, including emergency and scheduled maintenance, repairs and modernizations, predictive maintenance, routine and preventative maintenance (electrical and mechanical), overhead crane operator training, static and dynamic load testing, safety training and part sales.
  3. ON-SITE LIVE LINE TOOL & RUBBER GOODS TESTING: Our mobile testing labs save customers time and trouble by providing ON-SITE live line tool and rubber goods testing and certification. (No more labeling, packing, shipping and waiting!) IIA is one of the few service leaders offering this convenient service, which spans everything from hot sticks to rubber sleeves—all the tools of the lineman’s trade. With 24/7 availability, IIA can test tools after-hours to minimize staff and equipment downtime.
  4. LIFT PLANNING: IIA’s unique expertise in lift planning can take a load off your mind when planning a critical lift. Engineered critical lifts help to ensure the safe delivery of heavy loads, tandem crane lifts or installation into difficult areas, and IIA is one of the few engineering firms offering this specialty service.
  5. FIRE TRUCK INSPECTIONS: With life-threatening situations only a phone call away, firefighters have to be ready in a pinch — and so does their equipment. IIA is the go-to expert for top-to-bottom fire truck inspections, including hose, pumps, ladders and other apparatus. With our customized methodology, we can test in one day what it takes others several days to complete — and that means less downtime for your emergency vehicles. Our team has a complete understanding of NFPA testing requirements, and our mobile pump testing units allow us to test apparatus on location with minimal downtime, and limited use of municipal water, water tankers, or cisterns.
  6. FIRE HOSE & APPLIANCE TESTING: Our proprietary testing equipment allows us to test more feet of hose, under varying levels of pressure, faster and more accurately than any other company (up to 20,000 feet of hose in a single day!). We label and record all data for each length of hose we test and maintain a computerized history of your fire company’s hose for every year we service them. As an optional add-on service, IIA also tests hard suction hose using a dry vacuum rather than the typical hydrostatic test.
  7. MARITIME LIFT EQUIPMENT INSPECTIONS: IIA has the know-how needed to meet the unique needs of the maritime industry. Our Lift Services team includes personnel who are certified by OSHA’s Office of Maritime Enforcement. Our expert inspectors provide quick turnarounds and impartial inspection of maritime cargo-handling devices that are required to be certified under OSHA’s maritime safety and health standards, such as floating cranes and derricks, stevedoring gear and more.
  8. LIFT EQUIPMENT ENGINEERING: As a full-service company, our crane engineers can develop engineered weld repair procedures if serious defects are found and procedures cannot be obtained from the manufacturer. Our lift engineering services also include load testing and load rating of cranes and other lift equipment, as well as custom lift equipment design, including spreader bars, man baskets, gantry cranes and monorails, pallet lifters, jib cranes, fork extensions, and fall protection systems.
  9. MAN LIFT & SCISSOR LIFT INSPECTIONS: To help ensure the structural integrity of aerial work platforms, our skilled and certified personnel perform visual and non-destructive testing on welds and critical components on man lifts, scissor lifts, personnel lifts and other aerial work platforms. We have a comprehensive library of technical notes from most major aerial device manufacturers and detailed checklists for manlifts, scissor lifts, and personnel lifts.
  10. ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION & EXPERT WITNESS SERVICES: As a respected leader in engineering and inspection, IIA is often called upon to conduct or oversee accident investigations involving cranes and other lift equipment. Our experts can help you determine the reasons behind a misadventure or equipment failure and ensure that you comply with regulatory requirements for accident reporting. You can also partner with IIA to reduce insurance costs through subrogation of accident responsibility or when you need a structural integrity expert to testify in legal proceedings.
