IIA’s Attention to Detail Earns Praise from Utility

During a routine inspection for Tacoma Public Utilities in Washington, IIA Technician Anthony identified and reported a seemingly minor issue involving a bracket on a bucket truck. When the utility reported the issue, the equipment manufacturer deemed it significant enough to instruct the utility to remove the part from service until the problem could be fixed.

Tacoma Public Utilities Fleet Manager Don Ashmore is grateful for IIA’s detailed reporting and the eagle-eyed inspector who found the issue, potentially preventing a more serious failure down the road.

“Your team found an issue that, for your team and mine, did not seem important. [However,] the manufacturer took it as a remove-from-service item, and we did. This is why we have you report everything,” said Ashmore.

“The IIA team working with us is doing a tremendous job backing my team up and finding things that may have been missed or fallen through the cracks — which is exactly the way a partnership should work. I am a very pleased customer. Thank you so much.”
