Seismic & Wind Restraint Testing

IIA provides ISO 17025-accredited ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 171 Method of Testing for Rating Seismic and Wind Restraints to determine whether equipment restraints — including bolts, welds and materials — can withstand earthquakes or high-wind events. We use specialized structural testing equipment capable of applying controlled static and dynamic forces to assess three key areas: strength, functionality, and performance of restraint assemblies.

Tensile Testing and
Impact Testing

IIA uses Tensile Testing to characterize material properties or validate mechanical properties specifications (TYE). Toughness of material is determined through Impact Testing, and our lab professionals conduct the most commonly used and trusted impact testing methods, such as Charpy and IZOD. We have the capability of testing with a vast array of impact measurements, temperatures, and configurations.

Hardness Testing

IIA’s team uses varying hardness testing methods, such as Rockwell, Brinell, and Vicker’s, depending on the material and application. You can count on our lab experts to know exactly what testing methods need to be used for your project.

Pressure Testing (Hydrostatic/Air) Proof
& Load Testing

Our lab professionals provide testing methods to verify performance and locate leaks for finished products such as pressure pipes or vessels. We perform proof, load, and stress tests to demonstrate and verify the design is safe and can function without failure beyond design parameters.

Fastener Testing (TYE, TORQUE, HYDROGEN EMBRITTLEMENT)

The only way to validate Fasteners, which are often a critical component to the integrity of an assembly, is through testing. The experts at IIA Lab Services have the knowledge, experience, and technical skills to verify the quality and strength of fasteners, by using varying testing methods. Our team assists in quality assurance and qualifying that components are fit-for-purpose for every application.

Abrasion Testing (Taber)

Friction can be the cause of deterioration of materials and abrasion testing offers information on material or coating comparisons. The data can help categorize a material’s scratch abrasion resistance, based on lab-created circumstances, and can help determine the life expectancy of the material.

Procedure Qualification
(AWS, ASME, API)

We provide mechanical and non-destructive testing of welded or brazed materials to ensure they meet all applicable requirements. The procedures for creating and testing the sample welds, and the results, are documented on a Procedure Qualification Record (PQR), which serves as evidence that a given Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) can be used to produce an acceptable weld. IIA Lab Services provide numerous testing methods and our experts can choose the best and most cost-effective method for your project. We work diligently to ensure safe, compliant and fit for purpose material.
