It was 6 p.m. on a Friday. As most people wrapped up their work week, Robert Roedell, IIA’s Midwest Operations Manager of Lifting Services, learned that severe rain during the week had delayed scheduled inspections for a valued IIA customer.
The clock was ticking.
Unless required inspections were completed on the remaining 22 units by the following day, the customer — a major Midwestern utility — could face compliance issues. To make matters worse, more rain was predicted to roll in on Saturday.
Unwilling to allow any customer to miss an inspection deadline, Roedell quickly lined up two backup crews to assist with the inspections, if needed. He then hit the road so he could help out the technicians himself. Working together, the trio completed two days’ worth of work in just 10 hours, wrapping up all of the necessary inspections just as it started to rain again. Their work was also audited along the way.
“There is no way we were going to sit back and let this happen,” says Roedell, who enjoyed working alongside Robert and Brandon and getting to know them better. “We do what it takes to keep our customers in compliance!”
