Doing What He Loves Everyday

Lance Warren is one talented guy and by the looks of it, he has managed to squeeze three different exciting and successful professional lives into one.

Lance was drafted directly out of high school to play baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers. After a three-year pro-ball run, he began what turned into a 15-year law enforcement career, and after that he even went on to serve four years in the military. It seems like there is nothing Lance Warren can’t do!

After all of this, but before he entered the industrial field, Lance was a CDL truck driver, he built homes, and he was an entrepreneur and owned and operated a pressure washing business. Lance entered the industrial industry because one of his friends was also in the industry, and Lance began his industrial career on the safety side of things, but if you know Lance, you know he is a people person, which makes him perfect for sales. Most likely, the same way his football and baseball coaches recognized his raw talent, his previous employer requested that he transition from his role as Safety Director into sales. They obviously noticed a natural talent in him as well.

Now, having found his niche with Industrial Inspection & Analysis as the Southeast Regional Sales Manager, Lance feels at home. He understands and demonstrates the importance of connecting with customers and maintaining a positive working relationship. He also recognizes that it’s just as important to reach out to and get to know potential customers to learn about them and their goals and challenges. Lance shares “it’s important to let your customers know that you care about them as a person, and it’s not all about business.”

Lance believes taking the time to make that human connection and ask customers about themselves is a key component to trust and building a lasting, respectful relationship. Lance feels the best thing about his job is being able to connect with people on a personal level.

The journey to getting to IIA was an interesting and exciting one, and while Lance has been involved in many professional endeavors in his life, he says, “I’m glad this profession and IIA found me; the leadership here is the absolute best.” His advice to others who might be on a search for professional bliss comes from a familiar Mark Twain adage: “do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” Looks like Lance has taken his own advice.
